An Interview With Myself! Unusual Greeting Birthday Cards Recipe, Word Search, Sudoku, Puzzles, Food Gifts Designed4Doing Something With.

Why did you start Designed4 Doing?

The vision was to look beyond the everyday greeting card and give something that meant more, that could be used for different things and serve a greater purpose than a simple greeting card.

I wanted to show people that there was more thought in the cards than the message alone and give people something that would help them  create an enjoyable experience. Who doesn’t like getting something different on their birthday, right? With my cards that is exactly what they get – an experience that they wouldn’t get with just any greeting card.

How do you feel about the products you produce?

I feel a great deal and satisfaction. When I look at all I have achieved in less than 6 months and what the products actually look like and do, I am over the moon with delight!  I thank all who have made me get this far and particular thanks to Dawn Roberts, Lloyd, Nathan , Henry and Nile who have helped me tirelessly with getting the designs just right and listening to me moan each and every day!

Nothing will beat that feeling of joy I felt  watching a teenager engrossed in  one of my word search greeting cards and then getting her gran involved!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/designed4doingshop
It was then that I realized that I had created something that people would use, across the generations, and get satisfaction, pleasure, education and the knowledge that the card was more than just a simple thought. It’s not just children that like our cards – people of all ages enjoy a puzzle, we like to test ourselves and satisfy our craving to prove to ourselves what we can do!

It also gave me great joy when a teenager asked me if I had tested the ginger beer recipe and the look on her face when I stated I tested all recipes!

What is special about your greeting  cards?

They are all  Designed4Doing something with as well as being environmentally friendly.

Our cards, as well as being totally recyclable, can be used for other things and kept. With Designed4Doing greeting cards it’s about more than just a thought – it’s about watching the pleasure  of solving a word search, testing knowledge, reading and making a recipe  or just having a laugh and making a recipe.

What do you hope people will get from your greeting  cards?

There is so much pleasure for me in these products and I know and have seen that they will be appreciated.  I like to imagine an adult with their feet up reaching for the card and losing themselves in a word search for an hour;  a child getting pleasure from one of our drawing cards; another person child or adult trying a recipe and enjoying the entire activity as well as sampling what they made.

It's The Kid's Party Time. Birthdays Are Around the Corner. What are you going to do this time?

A themed part is not a must, but without it you really don't have much
direction as far as decorations, party favours, food, games, or activities go.  Now is there one theme better then another theme?  No -  as long as your child is thrilled with the theme and your budget allows for it  - then all is good.

Listed below are various themes for different age groups. Feel free to choose one or make up one of your own!  Choosing the theme is probably the most exciting part of planning a birthday party.  You can allow you and your child's imagination go wild!

Perfect Party Themes for Children Ages 1 through 11

Rug Rats                                                                   Pok√©mon
Bear in the Big Blue House                                   Clifford the Big Red Dog
The Busy World of Richard Scary                        Paddington Bear
Outer Space or Aliens                                            American Idol
Barnyard                                                                    Bug or Critter
Beach Theme                                                           Camping
Sports                                                                         Dinosaurs
Colour                                                                          Carnival
Dress Up                                                                   Firefighter
NASCAR                                                                   Pyjama
Pirate                                                                          Princess
Animal                                                                       Rainbow
Safari                                                                         Surf
Tea Party                                                                   Teddy Bear
Trains, Planes and Automobile                             Deep Sea
Wild West                                                                  Wizard of Oz
Sponge Bob                                                              Any Cartoon
Spooky

The Land Before Time                                            Barbie

For first birthdays, try and keep the number of children invited low!   A couple other children are more than adequate and a theme is not really necessary unless you just have to have one.  Baby party decorations in bright primary colours are enough to stimulate a little ones mind.

A few big blown up beach balls, plastic containers with plastic spoons so they can make music, tunnels that can be made out of cardboard boxes decorated with wrapping paper are next to irresistible for a one year old not to crawl through.  Poster board and washable finger paints are also a great activity.  Cereal they can dump back and forth between plastic containers. Be happy, this should be one of the most easiest ones to organise. After this one they get a little more difficult.

Perfect Party Themes for Children Ages 12 and up.

Amazing Race Theme                                            Beach Party
Camping Party                                                          Dance Party
Fiesta Theme                                                            Hollywood Theme
Murder Mystery Theme                                           Pirate Theme
Polka Dot Theme                                                     Pool Party
Scavenger Hunt                                                       Slumber Party
Spa Theme                                                               Survivor Theme
Bowling Party                                                           Hotel Party
Laser Tag Party                                                        Limo Party
Movie Night Party                                                     Paint Ball Party
Skating Party                                                            Sporting Event Party
Theme Park Party                                                    Retro Theme
50’s Theme

The older the kids often means more kids invited and a bit more of an expense but if you are wise in your decisions it does not need to break the bank.  Off site parties can get quite expensive especially if there are admission fees such as Theme parks, sporting events.  movies, skating rinks, lazar tag and paint ball facilities.  Make sure you limit the number of guest on any of these types of events.  The day and time of the week can play a role on admission cost. Be sure to get confirmation of attendance so you do not end up paying for guest that do not attend!

It is generally cheaper to rent a room at a centre for a dance party in the middle of the week rather then a weekend.  If your child does not like the idea of having their party on a weeknight, simply explain to them they have a choice, if it is held on a weekend less guest can attend, if it is held on a weekday they can invite more guest.  Still have the top set number you will allow in either situation and stick to your guns.  But if you really do prefer the weekend then go for it.

You will be surprised at how easily you can pull off a themed party in the house!  The Retro Theme works well in a home and outdoors.  You can save some money by hitting the second hand stores and picking up some tee shirts that can be tied-dyed.  A few other supplies you may want to consider is face paints, and fabric paints. Take tons of pictures, and encourage guest to wear clothing that matches the era. Play some music and this party will take care of itself.

A chocolate fondue party is also a hit with the teens. Purchase fresh fruits, nuts, cookies, marshmallow, pretzels and other great chocolate dipping foods.
Large platters of fresh fruit can be served, with music playing in the background and you may even want to fire up the grill and throw on sausages and some chicken legs!

With the teens comes the Sweet Sixteen Party as well.  Some great suggestions for a Sweet Sixteen Party are dance parties, a formal night out party, spa party, karaoke party, and a slumber/beauty party.  The main thing to keep in mind is that the party does not need to be hugely elaborate - just do it from the heart! That is what will shine through in the end.

Give Someone A Hug Today - And Feel Better!! GET RID OF THE ANTS! Take A Little Bit More Control Of Your Life - Today!

Give Someone A Hug Today!
You don't have to be an expert to know the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, is an instant pick-me-up. One research study on this subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from the ones she didn't touch!

Get Rid  OF The  "ANTs"
Get rid of Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!

Volunteer for an Organisation, or Help another Person
Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.

Increase Your Social Activity
By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way! People that make you smile!!  This weekend I am helping children to make Mothering Sunday Cards and Print Mugs! All for a good cause!

I hope this has given you some helpful tips on how to take more control of your life!

5 Tips To Help You Think Positively. Take Control Of What You Think. Don't Let Your Negative Thoughts Get You Down!

5 TIPS TO HELP YOU TAKE CONTROL OF NEGATIVES THOUGHTS!

5 Tips To Help Your Think Positively. Take Control Of What You Think. Don't Let Your Negative Thoughts Get You Down!

Do you often feel overwhelmed and out of control? When we become frustrated with our endeavours  we frequently become overwhelmed and do not know where to start. It's important to practice positive thinking, as this can lead to you being more productive and feeling better about your goals and expectations. It's important to spend more time making progress and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into a more positive thinking pattern. I do hope they help. I will post some more all this week!

Big smiles, please. Be Positive!

1. Your body is a temple so take good care of it.
When you are eating well and exercising as well as getting adequate sleep, it is much easier to be positive. Read how to make exercise less boring!

2. What is good in you life? Keep telling yourself about all the wonderful things that are good in your life. Stresses and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in your life. Taking just one minute  a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.

3. Stop IT, stop it now! Stop making assumptions about things. Look for proof.
A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your work colleagues are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about.

4. Stop staying that they always do this and always do that.
Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend "You NEVER call me?'' Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.

5. Stay away from those negative thoughts and be more positive.
Don't let your negative thoughts have power over you. If you start to think negatively, detach yourself from those thoughts and make an effort to think of the positives and not the negatives.

Have a lovely positive day.

FREE TIPS! What Are You Going To Get Done Today? How's Your Time Management Skills? Have You Remembered Mothering Sunday! 6th March - This year!!

Managing time skills

If you manage your time right you will have more time to spend doing the activities you like. This will help reduce unnecessary stress. You will also find that your productivity increases. Think ahead. Is there a special day coming up?

Prioritise your time so you get what you need in advance and have all the things you need for a task in advance. Don't forget Mothering Sunday next week - UK 6th March - THIS YEAR!! Have you forgotten someone's birthday? Did you get the milk in!

Here are a few tips on how to manage your time successfully:

· Gain more time by concentrating and focusing on task at hand. If needed, delegate tasks that you cannot do. Schedule in time for yourself. I am guilty of not scheduling time for myself. Are you?

· How do you spend your time? Do you even know? Keep a track of what you do. If it is unbalanced, then change it.

· You can prioritise your time by ranking task in order of priority. Give time to those things in life that you find important or mean something to you.

· Under commit yourself. Don't over commit. If you think you can do something by Wednesday, say you will do it by Thursday. If you feel you can do a certain quantity of work, state you will do less than that. That way, you relieve the stress and will always feel a sense of a achievement.

· Don't procrastinate. Plan your day. Divide the day into small projects that you feel you can manage. If they flow over to the next day ... so be it! Give yourself short term deadlines and long term deadlines.

Watching your muscles and body work could make exercise less boring! Come on, work with me here. You want to make exercise less boring, don't you? You will also sleep better!

Exercise is even more boring if you do not have a goal. If you have a goal to be fitter, healthy or even to fit into an item of clothing, all this can help you motivate yourself to go on. Exercise makes you glow as it improves blood circulation, so just think about how great you will look after exercise.

When you are training focus on the part of your body or the muscles that you wan to improve.
Research has shown that this may actually help your body to respond better and even if it does not at least the time will go by quicker! So, a little bit of muscle watching is what is needed when you do your training. This can work when you are doing weights or doing any other type of exercise.

By keeping up your physical activity during the day,
you may find it easier to deal with the stress and worries of your life.

Also think about it this way, for those of you who find it difficult to sleep at night, the amount of physical exercise that you exert during the day is one of the key ingredients to helping you
get a good sleep at night.  The more active your body is during the day, the more likely you are to
relax at night and fall asleep faster. With regular exercise you'll notice that your quality of sleep is improved and the transition between the cycles and phases of sleep will become smoother and
more regular.  By keeping up your physical activity during the day, you may find it easier to deal with the stress and worries of your life.

Have fun! I hope I have made doing exercise a little less boring.
